Fruits Basket is the kind of anime that needs complexity in designs and artwork to sell itself as a good piece of work to any fan of anime or manga. It is enchanting in its simplicity and its warm sincerity, enough to hold its own ground with other highly popular titles. Expect the unexpected is the motto to adopt while watching Fruits Basket. Apart from the norm, the anime offers a wide array of characters, each unique with their own lovable faults and enchanting quirks. As in real life, everyone has a story behind who he or she is today, just like our heroes and heroines here. And whilst the individual mini storylines entices you, it slowly intertwines you into the twists and turns of the deeper darker main story of the series, revealing the secrets that haunt the entire Sohma family. What is an anime without humour? The most intriguing part about Fruits Basket was that humour intervened at the most appropriate time to lighten what could have been a deadly serious and truly dull moment. Watching Fruits Basket will leave you what can only be described as a warm and fuzzy feeling at the end of it all. A must try for all fans out there who dare to explore the animal inside of them!
