This gentle series depicts the fun exchanges between the small mouse Nezumi-kun, whose trademark is a red vest, Nemi-chan, Nezumi-kun's girlfriend, and their animal friends. Viewers will chuckle, relate, and gain energy and courage from Nezumi-kun, who works so hard despite being so small. Through humorous developments in each episode that bring out the individuality of the animals, the series conveys the importance of everyday happiness, imagination, and consideration for others. It is a story full of kindness and togetherness, starring the small Nezumi-kun and a group of funny friends. The hugely popular picture book that has been loved across generations is finally becoming a TV anime! The "Nezumi-kun Picture Book" series (story by Yoshio Nakae, illustrations by Noriko Ueno) has a cumulative circulation of more than 5 million copies since its publication in 1974. This DVD collects the anime currently airing on NHK E-tele. It is a heartwarming masterpiece that depicts the exchanges between Nezumi-kun, who proudly shows off the red vest that Mother knitted, and the animals that visit one after another. The delicate touch unique to picture books and the "beauty of white space" are reproduced with the latest technology. The humor and kindness that unfold through repetition nurture children's rich emotions and bring adults a nostalgic, warm feeling. The series carefully honors the feelings the original creators put into the work! (1) With the idea that "individuality makes everyone wonderful," the series vividly depicts the diverse cast of characters and the many unique animals (friends) surrounding Nezumi-kun. (2) With the idea that "consideration for others is important," it tells heartwarming stories with smile-inducing endings, full of humor that lets you keep guessing the punchline to the very end, in the rhythmic expression unique to anime. (3) With the idea that "simplicity is important," the series uses simple visuals and music. The pencil-touch art style, which is not merely cute but also approachable for adults, is reproduced faithfully from the original through CG, and the music, too, aims for a simple yet exhilarating sound. Two leading figures among the "healing voice" actors of the voice acting world perform the narration and all of the characters. Kenjiro Tsuda and Mamiko Noto, talented voice actors representing the anime world, voice every character who appears, including Nezumi-kun and Nemi-chan! Their skillful switching between characters gives the story comical and warm color. The bonus footage includes two kinds of PVs, a dance video, and a non-credit ending. A postcard is also enclosed.
