Temporary

[Machine Translation] XL Recordings, the most important label that is revolutionizing the contemporary music scene and paving the way for the future, brings together its talents in one album! Everything is Recorded, an artist project directed by Richard Russell, has released its latest album! The latest album, produced over a four-year period from 2020 to 2024, features Noah Cyrus and Bill Callahan, who were recently featured on the single "Porcupine Tattoo", as well as Sang-Hwa, Kamasi Washington, Jah Wobble, Jack Penate, and many more. Like his Mercury Prize-nominated debut, the album was recorded primarily at Richard Russell's Copper House studio in west London, where the sign at the studio entrance reads, "No need for any outside reality. This album is a renewal and reboot of Russell's own musical DNA. The cut-and-paste approach that he honors goes back further than his first sampling heroes, The Bomb Squad and Prince Paul, to such combinatorial innovators as Steve Reich, Robert Rauschenberg, and William S. Burroughs. and William S. Burroughs. And while his music has traditionally been composed in the order of rhythm, words, and melody, the order of rhythm and melody has been switched in this album, with rhythm occupying a smaller part and melody being pushed to the forefront. Musically, the album is an acoustic thought experiment that asks the question, "What if folk music had gone digital in the 1980s, like reggae? The spiritual aspect and lyrical content of the song is about the constant loss and grief of friends, family, and colleagues in the post-2020 era. Yet, without being dark or gloomy, it is Everything Is Recorded's most melodic and tender masterpiece. It's a temporary thing ("Temporary"), exactly. And we all are," says Russell. Early in the process, Russell began recording his friends' reflections on death and loss. These words are recorded in two carefully crafted audio collages ("October" and "The Summons"), and their power permeates the entire album. Russell's music melts the boundaries between sampling and recording, modern and ancient, life and death, now and forever. He understands the true meaning of the album's title. We may, in fact, be temporary beings. But our longing for each other, for peace, for love and connection, will last forever. Includes bilingual lyrics and commentary. This product will be released on the same day worldwide and will be available for purchase on Friday, so please note that delivery will be made on or after the day of release.
