The pinnacle of orchestral artistry from Karajan and the Berlin Philharmonic! A newly remastered SACD hybrid disc, available in Japan only, joins the Lumiere Series! A carefully selected best-selling recording from the "Maestro," Karajan! A 1974 recording, from the peak of his career, of Richard Strauss's "Ein Heldenleben" (A Hero's Life), one of the pieces Karajan excelled at. This is a superb performance in which Karajan fully commands the Berlin Philharmonic, drawing out its outstanding technical capability, sense of color, and lyricism to the fullest. The performance values the flow of music on a grand scale, with the melodies sung with rich expression. The violin solo is by the concertmaster of the time, Michel Schwalbe. *A 2026 SACD hybrid disc with the latest HD192/24 remastering (mastering engineer: Atsuo Fujita). *Features a green-colored label.
