Description

[Machine Translation] 30th Anniversary! 4 titles to be released at once! What is essential to the history of Kronos is that they are a pioneering string quartet playing contemporary music, and that they have continued to pursue their own unique musicality, freeing contemporary music from academism. This is the first time they have released a work that conveys the full appeal of their music. Peteris Vasks, a composer from Latvia, one of the three Baltic States, is gaining recognition through Gidon Kremer and the Hilliard Ensemble. This work was written for Kronos and premiered at the Theatre de la Ville in Paris in 2000. Many composers have contributed works for the versatile Cronos, and Vasks' work was chosen from a repertoire of nearly 500 premieres.
