I've had this album on cassette and CD 3 different times. The latest was the Doors Box Mini LP set , (which is very good and done in 24 bit HDCD) but this SHM-CD is BETTER!! Sounds fresh and energetic like the band just recorded it yesterday, or even better like your in the recording studio with them, very deep , sweet and atmospheric sounding. Great bass. Fantastic...i love this SHM-CD release! Oh and you can crank this one up and it sounds killer! This album for me is one of the most classic , unique and original late '60's American recordings. I hold it dear, it can take me places that no other recording can. The Doors first album is the one! There will never be another Jim Morrison. I would've loved to have it in a Mini LP SHM-CD release....but i guess you can't have everything. I just ordered Waiting For The Sun (SHM-CD)........Hey CD Japan or Warner Music Japan.....please, please do Morrison Hotel in SHM-CD!! It's really a no brainer....The Doors recordings are easily worth it!
