Dancing For Dallars

[Machine Translation] In the former Soviet Union at a time when capitalism was beginning to invade the country, two of the world's most elegant ballet companies were forced to take on money - and the Bolshoi Ballet's first Las Vegas performance and the Kirov Ballet's financial scandal are included! Two intriguing works are included: the Bolshoi Ballet's first Las Vegas performance and the Kirov Ballet's money scandal! Bolshoi in Vegas" documents the nightmarish 1996 Las Vegas performance in which the Bolshoi Ballet hoped to capitalize on its former success. It also includes rare footage from the company's first U.S. tour, a political and artistic tour-de-force that took place 30 years earlier. Kirov Ballet Petersburg" covers the bribery scandals and corruption that occurred during the last year of Vinogradov's tenure as chief choreographer of the Kirov Ballet. Through memoirs of company workers, dancers, and critics, as well as specially recorded behind-the-scenes footage, the film offers a glimpse into the tremendous cultural legacy of the Kirov Ballet.
