As the story unfolds in a way that fans of the original film cannot miss, it is a heartwarming and moving work that reminds us of the preciousness of family ties and our feelings for those we love, which we tend to forget in our busy daily lives. The main character Hanada Ichiro is played by Suga Kenta, the famous child actor from the hit movie "ALWAYS: Sunset on Third Street. Ichiro's mother, Hisae, is played by Ryoko Shinohara. Masahiko Nishimura plays Ichiro's father, while Kazuki Kitamura, Nozomi Ando, Tetta Sugimoto, and Asako Motaima round out the cast of this unique film. The 2-disc set includes a full-length disc and a bonus disc. The bonus disc includes a making-of featurette, cast interviews, theatrical trailers and TV spots (50 min. total).

Hanada Shonen Shi aka Boy meets ghost 5

When I had been in Tokyo, I saw a poster at a cinema near Tokyu Hands. I found the poster and the eiga description very interesting and so I decided to buy a DVD when it'll be released. Story: A boy, Hanada Ichiro, is hidden by a truck. At this time he meets a ghost, Seiko, who pull him back to earth and life. Ichiro meets Seiko and the Yoshikawa granny (who also died) sometimes again. Later he gets to know Sawai, who says that he was Ichiro's real father and Daijiro had killed him. So Ichiro has some problems with his father Daijiro. After the school festival Tokujiro, Ichiro's grandfather, tells Ichiro that his father and Takeru had a ship accident where Takeru died and Daijiro swam home alone. Ichiro's best friend, Sota, hears that talk and runs away. From now on, Ichiro thinks his father is a bad person. Ichiro loses consciousness and Seiko and Yoshikawa granny show Ichiro the past of his mother Hanada Hisae, Daijiro and Sawai. There ichiro finds out the truth... I love this eiga, well actors (Suga, Shinohara, Nishimura, Matsuda, Ueda), very good photography and nice music. Good story!! DVD is good, but I think some people will need english subtitles, the DVD has japanese subs.
