Description

[Machine Translation] The Cimapane is called "Violone of Corelli's orchestra" by Alessandro Palmeri, the Italian Baroque cello master whom Enrico Onofri, the genius of the Baroque violin, trusts the most. The Violone is not an instrument commonly referred to as a double bass in ancient music, but a large cello made by Simone Cimapane, a master string instrument maker who also played violone in Arcangelo Corelli's orchestra. In this album, Palmeri, whose beloved instrument is the original 1685 Cimapane, an Italian national treasure, demonstrates "the secrets of violone" in a tasteful and eloquent manner. The album features Il Giardino armonico and Riccardo Doni, principal bass player of the Imaginarium Ensemble, on harpsichord and organ, and the Violoncello Duet. Japanese baroque cellist Takatsugu Sukeda joins the ensemble for the violoncello duet.
