Listening to the Beatles' Abbey Road is a euphoric feeling. Because John Lennon, George Harrison and Paul McCartney thought up vague, abstract, innocent, and simple ideas and turned them into bombastic, catchy, and intense songs. This seventeen-track work of art is an hour's worth of brilliant songwriting, and a masterpiece in and of itself. Ranging from little pop numbers that just exceed the ninety-second mark, into seven minute blues progressions, Abbey Road has been acclaimed as one of the Beatles' finest records to date, and I would probably agree with that phrase, minus the word "Beatles".

For me, this is one of the most important albums in pop music. When you hear it, you get the impression that the band is on the mightiest rise of creative forces ... Oh well. Listen to Paul's bass in "Something" ... And the vocals in "Because" ... When the album ends, you feel a bit deceived - because it all just started.

First off, this is NOT an audiophile review. I am reviewing this release from a purely aesthetic point of view. This ABBEY ROAD mini LP SHM-CD is excellent! The laminated mini LP cover is very well done. As the IN MONO box did not include The final 3 albums released by The Beatles, it's great to finally have Mini LPs of all the UK albums released during their active years (sans "A Collection of Beatles Oldies."). The one flaw many of the mini LPs in this set unfortunately feature is not an issue with this release. The title on the spine is flawless. This encore release features a resealable outer sleeve with a blue sticker (as opposed to the 1st pressing red sticker), a nice OBI, the 2009 booklet identical to the one released with the digipak version, and an additional booklet with song lyrics in English. Also included is a rice paper sleeve and the reproduced inner black sleeve to house the disc itself, as it was with the original UK-released album. The actual disc features a reproduced APPLE label. This is an excellent collectable!

As one of the people who have actually heard these SHM-CDS [NOT a per release comment] and all I can say is WOW!!! These are so much better than the 2009 remasters. i bought and have heard ALL of them now. Yes these are louder but also cleaner and clearer. I started with Sargent Peppers and then I bought ABBEY ROAD , etc...Beware of false reviews from people who visit and believe the Steve Hoffman web site's. These Beatle SHM-CDS are worth every YEN.

Do not get me wrong, this is a High Quality pressed CD with a nice Papersleeve, but nothing more! I have compared it back to back with the 2009 Standard CD and this CD is bit identical. SHM adds nothing to the soundquality. They used the same bass heavy and compressed digtal 2009 Remasters. The only differences I could find out, is that this SHM-CD is louder than the Standard CD. I do not understand what the fuzz is all about, since it is still a 16 Bit Redbook CD. If they had released it as SHM-SACD or Blu-Ray Audio or even DSD Flat Transfer CD using HR Cutting, this would be something else! I am a High End nuts and Musician with fine tuned and trained ears and I really can not hear any improvement.

Amazing sound !!! cleaner than standard version, its like a camera lense being pulled into focus,these cds will give Lp die-hards a run for their money! Superb packaging A1 all round.

I've bought Abbey Road at least 10 times since its original release. This SHM cd is stunning. I can't believe it after all these years! I bought all the Beatles SHM cd's and I'm glad I did. I'm in on the sacd's when they come out too!!

now we need sacd after we buy all the shm cds.you know how long we have been waiting for this? why do they do this to us? just release the sacds and get it over.
