ZAPPAtite: Frank Zappa's Tastiest Tracks [SHM-CD]

A compilation album selecting 18 "especially tasty" tracks from Frank Zappa's vast catalog. Originally released in 2016, "ZAPPAtite" was compiled by Frank Zappa's son Ahmet Zappa and Joe Travers, the manager of the Zappa family's tape vault. With a track selection that evenly covers various periods of Zappa's career, it serves as an ideal introduction to his vast catalog. It broadly includes tracks ranging from "Freak Out!," the first album released in 1966 by Zappa-led The Mothers of Invention, to works from the late 1980s. The carefully selected 18 tracks allow listeners to experience the appeal of Zappa's works from many different angles, including "Peaches En Regalia," a famous track from the jazz-rock masterpiece "Hot Rats"; the early 1970s track "Tell Me You Love Me," featuring former Turtles members Flo & Eddie at the front; "Cosmik Debris" and "Don't Eat The Yellow Snow" from the 1974 hit album "Apostrophe (')," which reached No. 10 on the U.S. chart; the instrumental number "Zoot Allures," which showcases his appeal as a guitarist; the technically dazzling yet comical live recording "Titties & Beer"; "Valley Girl," which drew major attention for the vocals of his eldest daughter Moon Zappa; "G-Spot Tornado," created using the Synclavier electronic instrument; and "Strictly Genteel," performed by the London Symphony Orchestra.
