Description

[Machine Translation] [Jazz the Best] The popular JTB 1,100 yen series now includes 100 new titles carefully selected from Verve, Impulse, ECM, Emercy, Decca, and A&M labels, all of which are treasure troves of jazz masterpieces. This is a collection of standards by Helen Merrill, a famous white female jazz vocalist. Among many jazz vocalists, Helen Merrill is unrivaled in her urban sophistication. This album is one of five that Merrill recorded for Mercury's Emerson label in the 1950s, and it is the one that best showcases the deep emotion in her husky voice. Recorded in Chicago, December 1957 and New York, February 1958 [Personnel] Helen Merrill (vo) / Mike Simpson (fl) / Dick Marx (p) / Fred Lundquist (g) / John Frigo (b) / Jerry Slosberg (ds) / Bobby Jasper ( ( fl ) / Bill Evans ( p ) / George Russell ( g ) / Oscar Pettiford ( b ) / Joe Jones ( ds )
