Description

[Machine Translation] [Jazz the Best] The popular JTB 1,100 yen series now includes 100 newly selected masterpieces from Verve, Impulse, ECM, Emercy, Decca, and A&M labels, all of which are treasure troves of jazz masterpieces. Organ and guitar, giants face each other. The superb orchestra in the background is also an attraction. Jimmy Smith's furious swing and Wes Montgomery's brilliant octave playing and chord solos combine on this exhilarating work. The bluesy sensibility and power of the Oliver Nelson Orchestra, featuring such splendid members as Clark Terry and Phil Woods, is also wonderful. This is a work that moves your feet without reason, and is truly "dynamic" in one word. Selected by Swing Journal (Gold Disc) Recorded in New Jersey, September 21, 23, 28, 1966 [Personnel] Jimmy Smith (org) / Wes Montgomery (g) / Oliver Nelson (arr, cond) Orchestra
