This is the Deutsche Grammophon debut album by Kazuki Yamada, one of the most internationally active Japanese conductors today, who made his debut with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra in June 2025 as the first Japanese conductor in 14 years following Seiji Ozawa and Yutaka Sado, and who is scheduled to assume the position of Chief Conductor and Artistic Director of the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin from autumn 2026. Yamada conducts the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO), one of the leading orchestras in the United Kingdom, with which he has built a relationship of trust over more than 10 years and where he serves as Music Director. The recorded works are Symphony No. 1 and Symphony No. 2 by William Walton, one of the leading composers of 20th century British music, as well as the Coronation March "Orb and Sceptre," composed for the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II, who will mark the 100th anniversary of her birth in 2026.
