Description

[Machine Translation] [DECCA BEST 100] Selected masterpieces from the vast catalogs of Decca and the former Philips. The design makes the most of the original jacket. Faure was active in France at about the same time as Debussy. His "Requiem" is said to have been composed in mourning for the death of his parents, and the entire piece is a plaintive work filled with a gentle sorrowful sentiment and a pious prayer for the repose of the dead. Pelleas et Melisande" is also known as a sophisticated and tasteful masterpiece. These two works will be performed by Dutoit and the Montreal Symphony Orchestra in a performance that has an established reputation for its sublimity and poetic sentiment.
