Description

[Machine Translation] [Encore Press/Classical DVD Masterpiece Selection 2021] Netrebko's "Lucia" is the highlight of this production. The female director Zimmerman's fantastical and beautiful stage set accelerates the unstable state of mind and tragedy in this brilliant performance. In the liner notes, Zimmerman writes, "The rich resonance and melancholy tones of Netrebko's voice further enhance the tragic expressiveness. The voice, which rises and falls in the lower register, is thunderous, while the sharp, lightning-like sound illuminates Lucia's increasingly fraught state of mind. [Lucia: Anna Netrebko (soprano), Enrico: Mariusz Kwiecien (baritone), Edgardo: Pyotr Bechawa (tenor), Arturo: Colin Lee (tenor), Raimondo: Ildar Abdrazakov (bass), Alisa: Michaela Martens (solo). Michaela Martens (mezzo-soprano), Normanno: Michael Myers (tenor), Metropolitan Opera Chorus and Orchestra, Marco Armiliato (conductor), Mary Zimmerman (director), Salvadore Cammarano (script), Nathalie Dessay (usher), Production: 2009 February 2009, Metropolitan Opera House, New York, New York <Live> Special feature: Interview with Nathalie Dessay
