As a result, the film ran for 22 weeks. The film was nominated for Best Cinematography at the 79th Academy Awards and was highly acclaimed at numerous film festivals and awards. The film is set in Vienna at the end of the 19th century. The story centers on the unforgivable love affair between a duchess and a man of peerless talent, who was called a "genius" among the "illusionists," a popular profession at the time. The production is also colored by the bewitching and brilliant illusions performed on stage by the illusionists, and is full of high quality and suspenseful developments. The most captivating part of the show is the last scene, which was highly praised by Stephen King.
