Rameau: Castor Et Pollux

[Machine Translation] Following "Zoroastre" released in April 2009, this is the second Rameau opera series directed by Audie, conducted by Rousset, and choreographed by Hosseinpour. Castor and Pollux", based on the Greek myth that tells the origin of the Gemini constellation, is the work that made the name of "Rameau, the opera composer" famous in later generations. It is said that the exceptional quality of the work impressed Debussy, who was later inspired by the work. Audie's direction vividly reveals the emotions of the characters on a geometric stage reminiscent of a constellation, and the dance scenes, a treat in baroque opera, are replaced by Hosseinpour's modern choreography, which, like "Zoroastre," eloquently embeds "meaning" in the sharp movements. The dancers paired with the singers complement the story by emphasizing the "twin nature" of the dancers. The singers are also strong. Panzarella, who has become an indispensable soprano in Rameau's works, sings a famous aria (Sorrowful Preparation) with great presence and delicacy, and Jance, in a rare role of a villainess, expresses the complex psychology of a woman who has fallen in love. Up-and-coming singers Bjarnason and Neven, who play twin brothers, also give fresh but full performances. Rousset's conducting is also superb, as he portrays Rameau's music with vivid sound production. Cast: Anna Maria Panzarella, Veronique Janss, Finnur Bjarnason, Henk Neven, Judith van Wanlooy, Anders J. Dahlin / Conductor: Christoph Rousset Conductor: Christophe Rousset, Les Talents Lilique / Director: Pierre Audy / Choreographer: Amir Hosseinpour
