Description

[Machine Translation] The Marriage of Figaro" at the Paris Opera. Gerard Mortier has always been known for his innovative stage performances that have caused controversy and admiration. This 2006 film of Figaro allows us to witness Mortier's attempts at new creation and provocation in their entirety. Martaler's production is quite exciting, with the setting of a marriage information office at a Salzburg family registry office. The singers are all virtuosos in their respective roles, including Regazzo's Figaro and Mattei's Count. The nerdy boy Cherubino, played by Schaeffer, is a particular highlight. The "recitativist" who accompanies the recitativo on stage in a variety of different ways also makes an appearance and creates a great deal of excitement in the audience. Cambourin, a regular conductor at the Paris Opera, where Mortier placed great importance, will assume the position of Permanent Conductor of the Yomiuri Symphony Orchestra in 2010. Cast: Lorenzo Regazzo ( Figaro ), Heidi Grant Murphy ( Susanna ), Peter Mattei ( Count Almaviva ), Christine Schaefer ( Cherubino ), and others Conductor: Sylvain Cambrelin, Paris Opera Orchestra & Chorus, Director: Christoph Martaler Christoph Malterer

Special Feature / Bonus Track: documentary (incl. 60 minutes interview footage)
