Description

[Machine Translation] West Side Story" was revived at the Palace Theatre on Broadway in March 2009, directed by Arthur Laurents, the playwright of the original 1957 version, with new costumes and sets, and some English lyrics and dialogue changed to Spanish to portray the Puerto Rican immigrant group more realistically. The production also features new costumes and sets. The role of Maria was played by Josefina Scaglione, who made her debut on Broadway from Argentine opera, and Anita was played by Karen Olivo (Tony Award winner for Best Supporting Actress), who played the original Vanessa in "In The Heights". It was highly acclaimed for its "closer to the truth than the original" and its timelessness. Here is a new interpretation of "West Side Story" for our time.
