Plays Liszt

Tomoki Sakata is a brilliant young pianist who has drawn worldwide attention since winning the 2016 Franz Liszt International Piano Competition. This is his long-awaited Liszt album, released with full confidence. It includes his signature piece "La Campanella" in two versions, condensing Liszt's multifaceted world - combining dazzling virtuosity with delicate poetic sensibility - onto a single disc. At its center stands the major work "Piano Sonata in B minor," regarded as the pinnacle of Liszt's creative output, its architectural beauty and drama fully brought to life. The album also covers celebrated pieces such as "Liebestraum," "Feux Follets," and "Hungarian Rhapsody No. 12," where technique, lyricism, and national character intersect, presenting Liszt's wide expressive range in three dimensions. Sakata's own interpretation, marked by meticulous structure, rich tone, and deep insight into the works, shines throughout, giving birth to a wholehearted album that opens a new horizon in Liszt performance.
