Includes Japan only bonus track(s). Fifteen years after the masterpiece "the lost and found," Gretchen Parlato has completed what may be her finest album yet. Following the compassionate and mature "Flor" (2021) and "Lean In" (2023), her two-decades-in-the-making collaboration with her close ally Lionel Loueke, this new work feels as though her musical career has come full circle. Throughout the album, listeners can sense echoes of the sound she explored from "In a Dream" through "the lost and found." At the same time, this is the sound of an artist who, having turned 50, has climbed another turn of the spiral staircase of her career, reaching heights far beyond those of that earlier period. Key members on this album include Mark Guiliana, an indispensable presence in Gretchen's music; Alan Hampton, co-producer on this album; and Robert Glasper, returning for the first time in 15 years since "the lost and found." A stellar lineup of featured artists also appears, including Gerald Clayton, Meshell Ndegeocello, Amber Navran & Max Bryk of Moonchild, Becca Stevens, and Jacob Mann. Overall, the album unfolds as an exquisitely mellow soundscape where several elements blend together like a gradation: neo-soul in the vein of Moonchild, Alan Hampton's distinctive folky and gentle sound, and a world shaped by Robert Glasper's piano and Rhodes tones and phrases, evoking the atmosphere of "the lost and found." The tracklist includes songs co-written with Robert Glasper, Alan Hampton, Amber Navran & Max Bryk, and others. The covers include "If It's Magic" from Stevie Wonder's masterpiece "Songs in the Key of Life" and "Mad World" from Tears for Fears' debut album "The Hurting." The Japan edition bonus track "If It Was" was originally recorded by Alan & Gretchen for a charity CD supporting relief efforts after the Great East Japan Earthquake. Following the Eaton Fire in Los Angeles in January 2025, the song was reimagined and newly recorded with Gerald Clayton and John Clayton also taking part. Previously released only digitally, it now receives its world-first CD release. Japan advance release.

名作『the lost and found』から15年。慈愛に満ちた成熟作『フロール』 (2021)、盟友リオーネル・ルエケとの20年越しのコラボ・アルバム『リ-ン・イン』 (2023)を経て、自身の音楽的キャリアがひとまわりしたかのような最高のアルバムが完成。『In a Dream』～『the lost and found』期のようなサウンドも随所に感じさせるが、50歳を迎えキャリアの螺旋階段を昇った地点でのサウンドともいえ、その高みは当時を遥かに超えたものとなっている。本作ではグレッチェンには欠かせないマーク・ジュリアナと今回共同プロデューサーのアラン・ハンプトン、そして『the lost and found』以来15年ぶりの邂逅となるロバート・グラスパーが主要メンバーとして参加。その他ジェラルド・クレイトン/ミシェル・ンデゲオチェロ/アンバー・ナヴラン&マックス・ブリック (ムーンチャイルド)/ベッカ・スティーヴンス/ジェイコブ・マン等の豪華アーティストたちがフィーチャリング。全体的には主にムーンチャイルドに代表されるようなネオソウル、アラン・ハンプトンの持ち味であるフォーキー&ジェントルなサウンド、そして『the lost and found』的ワールドともいえるロバート・グラスパーのピアノ/ローズの音色とフレーズが形成する世界、それらがグラデーションのように混ざりあった極上すぎるメロウネス・サウンドが展開されている。収録曲はロバート・グラスパー、アラン・ハンプトン、アンバー・ナヴラン&マックス・ブリック等との共作もあり、カヴァーはスティーヴィー・ワンダー名作『キー・オブ・ライフ』から「If It's Magic」、ティアーズ・フォー・フィアーズのデビュー作『The Hurtings』から「Mad World」を収録。日本盤ボーナス曲「If It Was」は東日本大震災チャリティーCD でアラン&グレッチェンが録音した曲だが、2025年1月のLAイートン火災を受けて再構築、ジェラルド・クレイトン&ジョン・クレイトンも参加して新録音したもの。配信のみでリリースされたが今回世界初CD化が実現。日本先行発売。
