Azure Stardust

VIOLET ETERNAL, led by Ivan Giannini (vo) and Jien Takahashi (g), releases their highly anticipated 2nd album!! VIOLET ETERNAL drew attention with their dramatic melodies reminiscent of the golden age of STRATOVARIUS after releasing "Reload the Violet". Ivan Giannini's impassioned vocals, familiar from DERDIAN and VISION DIVINE, combine with the lyrical guitar of Jien Takahashi of MAJUSTICE, known for his collaborations with renowned singers such as Mike Vescera, Mats Leven, and Dougie White. The sound born from fusing all of this at a high level has earned high praise from melodic metal fans. In 2025 they released the live album "UNDER THE VIOLET TOKYO," capturing their first-ever performance in Japan. Having started as a project, VIOLET ETERNAL has since evolved into a full band. Their new milestone is the 2nd album, "Azure Stardust". While keeping the melodic metal they have cultivated so far at its core, this album evolves toward a sound with greater lyricism and depth by incorporating acoustic guitar. As on the previous album, Ollie Bernstein, known from ILLUSION FORCE, FIVERINGS, and others, handles the bass, and NEKOMATA's accomplished guitarist Andrea Cappellari appears on every track. The album also welcomes YAMATO, active as the drummer for UCHUSENTAI:NOIZ~Neu:NOIZ, further reinforcing the band's sound with overwhelming speed and groove. Ivan's overwhelming vocal power, and the flowing twin guitars of Jien and Andrea. From thrilling, lightning-fast tunes to grand, melodic ballads, what runs through this album is an aesthetic that fuses a love of melodic metal with the modern production of Dennis Ward, who has produced ANGRA and HELLOWEEN. Of particular note is the roughly 9-minute epic speed tune that closes the album, "RE:GradationalSky". This is a track of historic value, featuring a performance recorded in the final years of the peerless genius pianist Vitalij Kuprij (ARTENSION, RING OF FIRE), who passed away leaving behind his work with MAJUSTICE. Being able to hear his final performance, with his soul etched into it, is truly the highlight of this album. The bonus track is a cover of Roselia's "FIREBIRD". Former SONATA ARCTICA keyboardist Mikko Harkin and former LOST HORIZON~HEED vocalist Daniel Heiman both join as guests. The superb high-tone duet between Daniel and Ivan makes for essential listening for melodic metal fans. Includes a bonus track. Lyrics and Japanese translations included / liner notes: Takehiko Maeda (BURRN!).
