Beethoven: Klavierkonzerte Nos.5 & 4 [Limited Release]

[Machine Translation] [Kemp Masterpieces 1000] German pianist Wilhelm Kemp ( 1895-1991 ) excelled at classical and romantic repertoire such as Beethoven, Brahms, and Bach. To commemorate the 30th anniversary of his death, the "Kemp Masterpieces 1000" series is being released as an encore pressing. The concerto recordings Kemp made in his prime years are representative of this period. Unlike the mentally shunned performances of his stereo recordings with Reitner in his later years, here we hear Kemp at his peak in the 1950s, when everything was at its peak of vigor. Kemp's piano of this period, where every note is vibrant, has a musical power that is not present in his later years. The same can be said for the complete piano sonatas recorded around the same time, and these monaural recordings are no less brilliant than their stereo counterparts. In addition, they are backed by the now legendary conductor Paul van Kempen and the Furtwangler-era Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. The performances of the last great master's era are presented here.
