J.S.Bach: Das Wohltemperierte Klavier (Auswahl) 1 [Limited Release]

[Machine Translation] [Kemp Masterpieces 1000] German pianist Wilhelm Kemp ( 1895-1991 ) excelled at classical and romantic repertoire such as Beethoven, Brahms, and Bach. To commemorate the 30th anniversary of his death, the "Kemp Masterpieces 1000" series is being released as an encore pressing. For Kemp, Bach was important in a different sense from Beethoven. His grandfather, father, and brother were all church organists and music directors, and from his youth he was strongly influenced by Bach's music, especially his organ music and cantatas. In fact, he performed not only as a pianist but also as an organist in his youth, and the depth of knowledge of Bach that he had cultivated in his 95 years of life blossomed in the recordings of his later years. Kemp's Bach transcends technique and exaggeration, and is filled with a spirit of boundless piety and nobility, a world of his own in which every clear note is deeply moving. Recorded in Hanover, May 1975
