Asano-chan (she now goes under her full-name: Asano IREI) has two songs ("Kataumui" and "Uyaumui") on this debut album (originally released in 1993) that she penned the music for that are worth listening to. But, like a pure freshman release, the album suffers from a lousy production that filled "Adan no Mi" with weak dance beats where you may just cringe (as I did) on your initial listen to the album. It would've been perfect had they just let her sing along with her sanshin playing and maybe add an acoustic guitar to back her. (Or, have someone like Toru YONAHA produce her album.) The album is a great starting point as you listen to her subsequent releases (2005's "Rakuen" is well-produced and she has an album coming out on 2006.7.5 called "Nangoku Jiryu") and more importantly, she continues to compose her own music which definitely sets her apart from a few of her contemporaries. In closing, I gave it a "3 out of 5" rating because you could easily go without the album and I'd only recommend it to those who are looking to complete their discography of her albums.
