This release marks the beginning of VERVE's 60th anniversary, which will be celebrated next year, and will be followed in 2016 by the release of a catalog including Impulse! This is the first time that all of the recordings that exist will be made available, and the full story of "The Greatest Love" will be revealed. The 2002 deluxe edition of the album also includes a few songs from the second session, but this is the first time that the entire "Love Above All" album is included. The 2CD version includes seven previously unreleased performances from the original album and two previously unreleased tracks from Coltrane's own two-track plus two sessions.
