This photo book combines Remi's own brief interpretations, thoughts, and feelings-summarized in Japanese-about the 11 songs featured on her 2nd album, "Cocoon,"
with photos taken specifically for "Cocoon."

I created this photobook with the hope that you'll enjoy the album even more while flipping through its pages.

Remi's second album, released for the first time in five years, is an ambitious work featuring Yuka Yanagihara on piano and Hitomi Aikawa on percussion.

"When you're tired, find a safe place to recharge, cherish yourself, and rest until your heart feels full again. When you emerge from your cocoon, you'll surely become stronger and kinder."
The album title, "Cocoon," was chosen with this sentiment in mind.

The tracklist begins with "1. Everything Happens To Me," which chronicles days when things don't go as planned; just when you think you've come to terms with life (2.), you escape into daydreams (3.), confronting yourself alone (4.) and resolving to rest properly (5.), little by little, light begins to appear (6.), your perspective broadens enough to notice the people supporting you (9.), you lift yourself up from the ground (10.), and finally step out into the world beyond the fog (11.) . The track order is designed so that, when listened to sequentially, you'll feel a little more energized by the time you finish.

*Cocoon* is sprinkled with playful touches crafted by Remi-elements you wouldn't expect to find on a typical jazz album. To her mischievous, smirking antics, the duo responds with a precise "We get it." It's as if they're playing along with the glimmering waves on a beach.

The animal illustrations scattered throughout the album design are by Eri Yazaki, who is also a jazz vocalist.
We asked her to draw laid-back animals that seem to snuggle up next to you as you take a deep breath and say, "Phew."
