Mardock Scramble

[Machine Translation] I want to die. I don't want to die. Survive. The city of Marduk is symbolized by the "Stairway to Heaven". One night, a young prostitute, Rune-Barot, is caught in the flames of an explosion, thanks to the wiles of a gambler, Shell. She is saved from certain death by Ufcock, a rat-shaped all-purpose weapon who is in charge of the mandate case, and Dr. Easter, a doctor. Barrot, who survived, pursues Shell's crimes, but is confronted by the enemy's case officer, Boyd, who once abused Ufcock. He is the one who abused Ufcock and went on a killing spree against him in the past. After a fierce gun battle, Ballot and Uhuqqqq compete for their usefulness in a casino run by Shell. As they face their past selves and begin to think about the meaning of life, Ballot's final battle begins. The author's masterpiece about a girl's loss and rebirth is now available in a new, greatly revised edition.
