Tube Kingdom (Kankyu Okoku) Vol.117 (Bessatsu Stereo Sound)

[Machine Translation] (Special feature) "Listening to the Groove of Japanese Jazz through a Vacuum Tube Amplifier" The fascination of "Japanese Jazz," which has been attracting much attention through a succession of analog reissues, will be explored using a vacuum tube amplifier with a wide variety of tube types and circuit configurations. Yusuke Ogawa, a record store owner known for supervising reissues (UNIVERSOUNDS, Koenji) and an audio critic will listen to rare original LPs with different tube amplifiers for different categories such as modern jazz, vocal, jazz rock, free jazz, and fusion, and discuss sound changes and the core of the sound sources' appeal. We will discuss about the sound changes and the core of the sound source's appeal. ( Experimental Workshop ) "Rectifier Tube Listening Comparison with a Vintage U.S. Amplifier" We will listen to a vintage 6V6 push-pull stereo amplifier manufactured by Magnavox in the U.S., which was once built into an electric gramophone, by replacing the old and new 5U4GB/5U4G rectifier tubes. The stereo amp with only one rectifier tube will be used to explore the sound quality of the old and new brands, and to report on the great power of the rectifier tube in tube amplifiers. This is a practical listening program that will also be of interest to craftspeople, with detailed explanations of points to keep in mind when replacing the rectifier tubes.
