もうすぐ春です。ここは京都のど真ん中にある花街。舞妓さんたちが共同生活を営んでいるのは「屋形」と呼ばれるおうちです。青森からやってきたキヨは舞妓さんを目指していたけれど、今は屋形のまかないさんとして舞妓さんたちの毎日の食事を作っています。一方、キヨの幼なじみのすみれ(すーちゃん)は、仕込みさんという下積み期間を経て、晴れて舞妓さんになり、お稽古にお座敷にと毎日を忙しく過ごしています。キヨたちが京都に来てもうすぐ1年。屋形には新人の仕込みさんがやってくることになりました。初めて「妹」ができることになり、すーちゃんは緊張を募らせます。さて、新しい仕込みさんはどんな子なのでしょうか…?華やかな花街の舞台裏、普通の日のごはんを通して、温かな人間模様が描かれるお台所物語。
