GOOD ROCKS! GOOD MUSIC CULTURE MAGAZINE Vol.44 [Cover & Top Feature] SCANDAL

[Machine Translation] SCANDAL (cover & front cover) SCANDAL (cover page 20 feature) SCANDAL made their major debut in 2008 with the single "DOLL" and their powerful live performance singing in school uniform attracted a lot of attention and was covered by various media. SCANDAL has climbed to the top of the Japanese music scene with overwhelming speed as a girl band. This year marks the 5th anniversary of their debut, and they will hold their solo live "SCANDAL OSAKA-JO HALL 2013 'Wonderful Tonight'" at Osaka-jo Hall, which has been their dream since the band was formed. They also completed their fifth album "STANDARD". What are they thinking and how do they face their music now that they have realized their dream in this milestone year and have been active without a break as a representative of Japanese girl bands? This interview focuses on the current SCANDAL, looking back on their live performance at Osaka-jo Hall, their dream venue. Ryuichi Kawamura (Back cover, 10-page feature article) Ryuichi Kawamura released his 10th solo album, "Life. He has taken on various musical challenges as a vocalist, but with this new album he proposes a new way of "rock" that is rooted in his own roots. What does he think now as a charismatic rock star? We asked him about the true meaning of his commitment to rock. The Pillows resumed their activities after a hiatus following the tour for their album "Trial" and released a single "Happy Birthday" on September 16, 2013, the 25th anniversary of their formation. The release of this single marks the start of their full-fledged activities for the memorial year. Expectations are high for live performances, commemorative events, and an album. We asked frontman Sawao Yamanaka to talk about his feelings since their Budokan concert in 2009 up to the present. The second album "Bande Dessinee" by Drescors is a work of great promise. As was conveyed in the single "Tautology," which preceded the album, the band's intentions have become clearer and their words stronger. Above all, the melodies are beautiful. From the 11th song, "We are," the story jumps to Kyoko Okazaki's phrase from her manga "River's Edge": "We are surviving on a flat battlefield." ...... This interview took an unexpected turn, and I was able to get to the heart of the matter. I hope you will read it.
