Description

[Machine Translation] The most powerful disc of the year on the Harmonia Mundi label features the singing prodigy Farinelli, who made headlines eight years ago with the film "Castrato". The castrated male high-pitched castrato does not exist today, and it was impossible for the great composers of the time to reproduce as intended the works they created for Farinelli's virtuosity. Jacobs, who had long dreamed of reproducing this work, discovered an Alaskan mezzo-soprano, Vivica Juneau, and the recording was realized. Junod's voice is extremely castrato, and she handles even the most extreme passages with aplomb. This is a gem that will captivate the hearts of singers and is of more than mere archival interest.
