Shojo Kakumei Utena Complete CD Box [Limited Release] Customer Reviews

Last time this was issued it sold out, and now I see why. Each and every one of the songs that appeared on the series (With exception of Fiance ni naritai sung and Sega videogame theme sung) apears here. It also includes songs that never appeared on the series yet they were marketed along, drama tracks and the musical of Utena too. If you buy this you won't need to hunt all the other cds that are already out of prints. The design of the box and the cases is also really beautiful, probably the newest art for the series made in years. The only minus point is that the jewel cases feel a little flimsy and cds don't stay in place much so you have to be really careful with the package. But otherwise is a great set and really worth it if you don't have the soundtrack already or don't have it complete.

I received my copy of this box set earlier this week, and listening to it as I type this. I was so afraid I'd have to spend a small fortune on the aftermarket to collect all of the music in this collection. THANKS TO CD-JAPAN AND KING RECORDS for making this happen! Domo arigato!

This Box includes every track appearing in the TV Series "Shojo Kakumei Utena" and in its movie. The Box comes with 10 discs and an over 100 paged booklet, introducing into the music and the character themes. Everyone who missed the single discs will find here the complete music in a nice collector's box. A must-have for Utena-fans!

Okay, I don't actually own this set but I have most all of the music associated with this wonderous, mind-bending anime. Everything about the Utena series is amazing and the soundtrack, while strange at times, is truly mesmerizing. I soon began purchasing the OSTs and amassed quite a collection. The mysterious JA Seazer, the man who composed all of the duel songs, stuck in my mind but I never bothered to investigate him further; until, that is, Julian Cope's excellent Japrocksampler book filled in all the missing pieces for me and shed light on a career that stretched back to the early 70's. If you have the means, check out his early albums as the "duel style" is already evident with grandiose choruses, scorching guitar, droning organ and awesome drumming; Kokkyo Junreika is particularly impressive.
