Description

[Machine Translation] Master director Claude Chabrol has adapted the novel by the queen of mysteries, Ruth Rendell, into a complete film. The long-awaited first DVD release of this psycho-suspense film, which surpasses the original, is now available in HD master! Against the backdrop of a story in which human goodness and kindness are intertwined with a sense of inferiority, ironically giving birth to hatred and leading to a spectacular tragedy, the characters weave a fantasy by putting themselves in a kind of victim's position. The consistent and cool-headed point of view, the direction that slowly approaches the unseen motive behind the murder, and the stifling tension are all indicative of Hitchcock's penchant for mystery masterpieces. Isabelle Huppert won the Best Actress Award at the Venice Film Festival and the Cesar (French Academy Award) for her performance in this film. Commentary by Seiro Okubo is enclosed.
Special Feature / Bonus Track: original trailer, interview
