Lo chiamavano Trinita (My Name Is Trinity)

For starters, let me say that I love this movie. So far, it has only been available on horribly washed-out, less-than-VHS-grade, pan and scan NTSC DVDs in the USA and on a couple of decent widescreen releases in Europe in PAL format, complete with the 4% speedup. I was thrilled to see a Japanese company get hold of this title and threw down my hard earned cash to get this and "Trinity Is Still My Name". Imagine the disappointment to find that these discs were converted to NTSC from PAL masters using good old "standards conversion", which leaves the 4% speedup intact and replaces the progressive PAL frames with interlaced, "ghosty" blended frames. For the price being charged, the producers of this disc should've done it correctly, which is to convert from PAL to NTSC resolution, slowdown frame rate to 23.976, resample audio, and re-encode new video stream as progressive with pulldown flags enabled for playback. This process can even be done with Shareware downloaded from the Internet. Get the UK PAL disc instead or hold out for a better release. If you don't mind bad PAL to NTSC, then by all means get the disc. Just wait for it to go on sale first.
