Description

[Machine Translation] The first sound recording by the maestro Takashi Asahina (1908-2001) is now available! This is an excerpt from the concert opera "Fidelio" performed by Asahina and the New Japan Philharmonic in 1984-87, following Wagner's "Ring" with an all-Japanese cast. Akio Jissoji, a prodigy, staged the innovative stage with a huge intre (scaffold) behind the orchestra, which resembled a prison cell. The spirit of "freedom, equality, and philanthropy" that Beethoven dreamed of soared beyond the performance in this (repressed) space. Beethoven by Asahina - a great performance has appeared.
