Yononaka ni Taete Sakura no Nakariseba

The film stars Renka Iwamoto of Nogizaka46 and veteran actor Akira Takarada, whose last work is this one. Directed by Nobuyuki Miyake. Plot: Saki, a high school girl who has been truant from school, works part-time as an end-of-life advisor. She and Keizo, an elderly gentleman she works with, help people from all walks of life with their "end-of-life" plans. Meanwhile, Saki's homeroom teacher, Nagumo, who used to be a Japanese language teacher, is being bullied by her students and has quit teaching and is living a life of desperation. Saki often visited her home to check on her and see how she was doing. At the same time, she ambushes the bullies and confronts them with her feelings, but the feeling of helplessness inside her does not disappear. Keizo tells Saki, who has been truant from school herself and is looking for a place to go, about a memory he has of seeing his ill and dying wife under the cherry blossoms. Saki tries to cheer up Keizo and his wife by going out to look for the cherry tree Keizo once saw...

"桜の季節"と"終活"をテーマに、70歳もの年の差コンビが描き出す、心温まるヒューマンドラマ。「乃木坂46」で活躍する岩本蓮加と本作が遺作となった大ベテラン俳優・宝田明がW主演を務める。企画立案は宝田企画で、自身もエグゼクティブプロデューサーを務める。共演は土居志央梨、吉行和子。監督は、短編作品「サイレン」(2017年)が国内外の映画祭で賞に輝くなど気鋭の若手・三宅伸行。――終活アドバイザーのバイトをしている不登校の女子高生・咲は、一緒に働く老紳士・敬三と共に、様々な境遇の人々の「終活」の手助けをしていた。そんな最中、咲の担任でかつて国語教師であった南雲は生徒からのイジメに遭い、教師をやめ自暴自棄の生活をしていた。咲はひきこもりの彼女の様子を見に度々家を訪れ、様子をうかがっていた。一方で、イジメの張本人の女子生徒を待ち伏せして自分の気持ちをぶつけたりもするが、彼女の中のやるせない気持ちは消えることはなかった。自身も不登校で行き場を求めている咲に、敬三は病気で老い先短い妻とかつて見た桜の下での思い出を語る。咲は敬三たち夫婦を励まそうと、敬三がかつて見たという桜の木を探しに出かけるのだが・・・。
