[Machine Translation] This is the second album from [Sax Bass Duo], a group that debuted in 2020 under the theme The Ultimate Single-Note Ensemble," marking their first release in two years. Sax Bass Duo features Hiroyasu Ito, the leader of Grupo Chevere" a former bassist with Orquesta de la Luz and a leading figure in Japan s salsa-fusion scene "Grupo Chebere," and saxophonist Kunio Ooi, a Grupo Chebere member who is also active in the J-Pop scene, including with Johnny s. As with their previous album, they welcome Seiki Yoshimi one of Japan s leading tabla players as a guest artist, creating a one-of-a-kind single-note ensemble. This album consists of four original songs and six cover songs. The originals are original works that generously reflect the various genre elements including jazz, Latin, flamenco, rock, and pop that the members have experienced throughout their careers. The cover songs range from jazz master Sonny Rollins St. Thomas" , Oblivion" by tango legend Astor Piazzolla, and El guararey de Pastorita" a world-famous classic made popular by the Cuban national band Los Van Van among others, making for a richly varied selection. As with his previous album, this work also features two classical pieces. They masterfully interpret the world-renowned pieces Mozart s Eine kleine Nachtmusik" and Chopin s Nocturne" using only the saxophone and bass. 「究極の単音アンサンブル」をテーマに2020年に始動したユニット[Sax Bass Duo]の2年ぶりとなるセカンドアルバム。Sax Bass Duoは、元オルケスタ・デ・ラ・ルスのベーシストで日本を代表するサルサ・ミクスチャーバンド "グルーポ・チェベレ"のリーダー、伊藤寛康とグルーポ・チェベレのメンバーで、ジャニーズなどJ-Popシーンでも活躍しているサックス奏者、大堰邦郎のデュオ・ユニット。前作同様、日本屈指のタブラ奏者の吉見征樹氏をゲストに迎え、唯一無二の単音アンサンブルを作り出している。今回のアルバムは、オリジナル4曲とカバー6曲で構成。オリジナルはメンバーがこれまで経験してきた、ジャズ、ラテン、フラメンコ、ロック、ポップスなど様々なジャンル要素を、惜しみなく反映させた独創的な作品に仕上がっている。カバー曲も、ジャズの巨匠ソニー・ロリンズの「St.Thomas」、タンゴ界の重鎮アストル・ピアソラの「Oblivion」、キューバの国民的バンド、ロス・バン・バンの演奏で、世界的に有名になった名曲「El guararey de Pastorita」など、色彩豊かな選曲。前作同様、今作品でもクラシック曲を2曲取り上げている。モーツァルトの「アイネクライネ・ナハトムジーク」ショパンの「夜想曲」と言う世界的にも知られている曲を、サックスとベースの単音楽器のみで見事に表現。他にはないデュオのスタイルと、単音の組み合わせとは思えないほどの豊かなサウンドをお楽しみください。デジパック仕様。
