FOOL ON THE HILL

[Machine Translation] Sungo Sawada has been a driving force in the jazz guitar world since the dawn of Japanese jazz history. The long-awaited paper jacket reissue of the great album recorded in 1969 with splendid players is finally available! ! e-music Japanese jazz masterpiece reissue Vol.2 !!!!! Shungo Sawada" is one of the greatest contributors to modern jazz guitar in Japan. This is Sawada's first jazz album, recorded in 1969 as the Sungo Sawada All-Stars with a group of well-known players. The basic members were Norio Maeda (p, org), Masahiko Sato (p), Yasuo Arakawa (b), and Takeshi Inomata (d), with a brass section arranged by Maeda and Sato on some tracks. Sawada's bluesy playing is the essence of the standard tunes such as "As Fresh as the Morning Sun" and "You, the Night, and the Music. He uses bebop-like phrasing to create a slow and steady flow. Satin Doll" is also known for Bernie Kessel's (Paul Winners) masterful performance, but Sawada's performance here is no less masterful. In "Up, Up and Away" and "Look of Love," Sawada's use of octave technique to sing the melody is impressive. The Beatles number "Fool on the Hill," Sato's piano in "Israel," and Maeda's organ in "Chattanooga Choo Choo" are also worth listening to. Fool on the Hill" is a work from Sawada's most active period, backed by some of the best musicians of his day. The original LP of this great album is known to be hard to find, and it has finally been reissued in paper jacket. !!!!!
