In 2026, Toru Takemitsu reaches the 30th anniversary of his death. Known as a world-renowned composer of contemporary music, what he quietly yet passionately kept writing throughout his life were "songs" imbued with the scent of chanson, jazz, and kayokyoku. These works, in which poems woven by leading Japanese wordsmiths such as Shuntaro Tanikawa, Ichiro Araki, and Kuniharu Akiyama unite with Takemitsu's uniquely delicate and deep sound world, are still sung by many artists today, transcending the genres of classical, pop, and jazz. This work is a groundbreaking album in which the up-and-coming soprano Yuma Kumaki, who appeared like a comet, and Kazuki Yamada, a leading Japanese conductor deeply moved by her voice, surprisingly serves as the piano accompanist for every track. While it is the first full album of Takemitsu songs by a classical soprano singer, it is precisely because of the extremely minimal configuration of voice and piano that the breath of the words, the shading of the melodies, and even the silences emerge vividly.
