Into the Wild

[Machine Translation] Sean Penn's masterpiece! A shocking true story made into a film! Jon Krakower wrote "Into the Wilderness" after meticulously researching the death of a young man whose story caused a ripple effect across the United States. The film became a bestseller after its release, and Sean Penn was so impressed with the story that he spent more than 10 years acquiring the film rights. This is the first feature film he has directed in the six years since Pledge. Emile Hirsch, who plays the lead role, went on an epic 18-kilogram diet. With this film, he was recognized both in Japan and abroad as a true acting talent. The film also features outstanding performances by Marcia Gay Harden and William Hurt, both Academy Award winners, as the main character's parents, and Hal Holbrook, who at the age of 83 became the first Oscar nominee for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in this film. --In the summer of 1990, Christopher McCandless is a 22-year-old college graduate with a promising future, having graduated with honors and been accepted to Harvard Law School. One day, however, without telling anyone, he left everything behind and disappeared. This was the beginning of Chris's epic journey in search of the truth. His final destination: Alaska.
