Zemlinsky: Die Seejungfrau, etc.

[Machine Translation] It has been almost 75 years since Zemlinsky passed away. However, his works are still overshadowed by his student, friend, and brother-in-law, Schoenberg. Although Zemlinsky's works are not as avant-garde as Schoenberg's, and he never used atonality or the twelve-tone technique, his music has recently been attracting much attention for the harmonic techniques he inherited from Wagner and his profound orchestration. The Little Mermaid" recorded in this avant-garde album is one of Zemlinsky's masterpieces. Based on Andersen's fairy tale of the same name, it was premiered in Vienna in 1905 together with Schoenberg's "Pelleas et Melisande. The score was scattered and forgotten for a while, but since its discovery in the 1970s, it has been performed more frequently. The piece from the successful opera "Once upon a time..." is also a beautiful piece of music.
