Warner Classics artists who lead the music world on the global stage gather one after another! The new series "Lumiere" delivers great performances in high-quality SACD hybrid domestic editions. Sixteen beautiful lullabies that drift between sleep and awakening. Rich imagination and warm piano tones invite you to the entrance of dreams. The album, themed on "sleep," collects 16 "lullabies" spanning the 19th to 21st centuries. Bertrand Chamayou, who says "I myself have insomnia," notes that becoming the father of two children strengthened his long-held wish to make "an album of lullabies." From famous lullabies by Chopin, Liszt, Brahms, and Grieg to rarely performed lullabies by Balakirev, Busoni, Janacek, Lyapunov, and Villa-Lobos are included. It also features the atonal lullaby by Helmut Lachenmann and a work by the female composer Mel Bonis, making for a richly diverse album. The commissioned piece "Song for Octave" by contemporary composer/guitarist Bryce Dessner receives its world premiere recording, and this is among the earliest recordings made in Dolby Atmos!
