[Light Mellow presents J-FUSION Renaissance Color Vinyl Reissue Series, Vol. 3] Japanese crossover/fusion is red-hot once again! As an offshoot or extension of the globally popular City Pop reappraisal, Japanese fusion has surged back into the spotlight since around last year. Leading names such as Masayoshi Takanaka, Jun Fukamachi, and Casiopea are all highly popular, along with acts once appreciated mainly by connoisseurs at the time, such as The Players, Himiko Kikuchi, and NORIKI, as well as the avant-garde likes of Mariah and Ryo Kawasaki. It should still be fresh in memory that "CROSSOVER CITY," a joint compilation project by five major labels, was released and drew major attention. A particularly notable recent trend is the popularity of ambient and techno-leaning works, and works enjoyed as background listening in the manner of a soundtrack. As the listener base has expanded significantly to include younger generations, old preconceptions about crossover/fusion have broken down, and the music is now being heard more freely, with fresh sensibilities. With this backdrop in mind, this lineup was selected from Universal Music's extensive catalog. This year has seen the publication of several Japanese fusion disc guides (one of them led by this series' supervisor, Toshikazu Kanazawa), and this reissue project ties in with that movement. Limited first pressing. Each title will be released on color vinyl that expands on the imagery of its jacket artwork. This color vinyl reissue series is the third installment, following the 7 titles released on June 24 and September 23. In addition, as a CD companion to this "Light Mellow presents J-FUSION Renaissance" project, the well-received early-1980s compilation "HORIZON DREAM vol.1-3" has been compiled onto a 2-CD set, and "HORIZON DREAM 2026," newly selected with a contemporary sensibility, was released on March 25. Overall supervision: Toshikazu Kanazawa. The final album by the lineup of Issei Noro, Minoru Mukaiya, Tetsuo Sakurai, and Akira Jimbo, who built the band's second era and golden age, this is a torrential live album documenting their 1988 world tour, which took them through Brazil, Australia, Japan, Mexico, and the US. When it comes to their live releases, four titles were issued during the Alfa era, including the early classic "Thunder Live" and "Mint Jams," made with overseas audiences in mind but now their most popular release, but this is the only one from the AURA/Polydor era. A precious document offering a look at their overseas touring at the time. Likely reflecting the more direct reactions of overseas audiences compared to Japan, it captures a slightly wilder Casiopea sound with sharper dynamic contrasts than usual. The Japan performance features a guest horn section (Horn Spectrum plus TOPS Horns). Clear sky blue vinyl (63-B01). Produced by Issei Noro. Remastered and cut by Katsutoshi Kitamura (Mixer's Labo).
