Before British Tele ever saw AB FAB, there was another FAB. "FAB" was the catchphrase of "Thuderbirds" as well as the number plate (FAB1) of the pink Rolls owned by the show's heroine, Penelope, driven by Parker, her butler and ex safe cracker. This DVD Box is the first one of two, containing the first 16 episodes (of all 32) of Gerry Anderson's classic "SUPERMARIONATION" show, all digitally remastered. The intro to the show with drum roll, explosions, and the great theme score by Barry Gray excited me as a kid like nothing else could. The series also became a huge stepping stone for the late special FX expert Derek Meddings whose film career started out with Gerry Anderson's first show, "Supercar." Meddings later did special FX for the Superman series, Batman, and James Bond films up to "GoldenEye" which was his last work. This set also contains "The Thunderbirds Companion" which is a fun-filled 50-minute documentary hosted by Brains, the genius engineer and inventor of all International Rescue's high tech gadgetry. (How I would love to make a big-time live action Thunderbirds movie with Bob Hoskins as Parker! I can perfectly picture him going, "Yes, milday")
