A violinist who has won Seiji Ozawa's full trust and has built a distinguished career not only as an orchestral concertmaster but also as a soloist now presents a supreme recording of Bach's works for unaccompanied violin. Having refined her artistry in Germany, Machiko Shimada has performed throughout the world since 1998 as a member of the Saito Kinen Orchestra under Seiji Ozawa and the Mito Chamber Orchestra, while also earning high regard as an accomplished chamber musician. Now, this outstanding violinist, also noted for her work as concertmaster of the Nagoya-based Central Aichi Symphony Orchestra, has finally completed Johann Sebastian Bach's "Sonatas and Partitas for Solo Violin" in their entirety, one of the supreme monuments of the violin repertoire.
