Kanji Ishimaru made a striking debut in 1990 as Raoul in the musical "The Phantom of the Opera" and gained popularity for 17 years as one of Shiki Theatre Company's leading actors. After becoming independent in 2009, he has expanded his activities beyond the stage to visual works such as dramas and films, music activities as a singer, and even work as a host and narrator. Kanji Ishimaru, who continues such diverse expression, presents a refined musical feast at the prestigious Cotton Club with outstanding jazz musicians including Makoto Kuriya (piano), Koichi Osamu (bass), and Hiroyuki Noritake (drums). Makoto Kuriya, who handles the arrangements and serves as leader of the trio, has been active worldwide since the 1990s, sometimes displaying talent beyond the framework of jazz, and has also worked on pop song composition and arrangement, music production, TV theme songs, film music, and more. This superb live album lets listeners enjoy the collaboration between the two, which was also well received on the 2024 cover album "Kanji Ishimaru / with FRIENDS," together with the sense of presence unique to a jazz club. Released as a high-quality SACD hybrid disc. Recorded: Cotton Club, March 10 and 11, 2026 (live).
