Completely Revamped Sound Quality with the Latest Mastering!!
That breathtaking sound that captivated everyone comes at you one after another
The newly revived Japanese premiere of Mahler's Symphony No. 9 is also a must-hear
Maestro Kondrashin's legendary Japan tour-a performance that deserves to be passed down through the ages

Originally released on CD from the original NHK master recordings and causing a huge sensation, Kondrashin's 1967 Japan tour is now available on single-layer SACD! Thanks to the extended recording time unique to SACD, the 286-minute performance is condensed onto two discs. Sound quality has been significantly improved through a new remaster utilizing ALTUS's latest technology, and the booklet faithfully reproduces the same content as the separately sold CD. It also includes an original essay by conductor Kenshiro Sakairi. A strictly limited edition!
Of particular note is Mahler's Symphony No. 9 on DISC 1. This was the Japanese premiere and stands as one of the most significant recordings in the history of Japanese music. This long-awaited revival features a recording that had been out of circulation for some time. While there were some sound quality issues due to the condition of the master tapes, we have carefully remastered it, making corrections wherever possible, and are now presenting this legendary performance to the world once again. The bone-chilling tension and the ruthless, relentless drive create a truly overwhelming impression. The intensity of the "Pathetique" and Shostakovich goes without saying-it's clear that this is indeed the Kondrashin sound that captivated everyone. His collaboration with Oistrakh on the Violin Concerto is also a must-hear. And on Disc 2, there's a surprising collection of encores-who would have thought they'd actually perform the second movement of Mahler's Symphony No. 3... You can even hear Akutagawa in a performance by the original Soviet ensemble. A monumental collection of Kondrasin's masterful performances, featuring an exceptionally rich lineup!

- Previously released ALT-047 (Brahms, Bach: Violin Concertos) and ALT-066 (Tchaikovsky, Mendelssohn: Violin Concertos) are not included in this set. Please note this.
