[Machine Translation] This is a DVD of the gala concert "Opera Night" (a charity concert for the German AIDS Foundation) held in Cologne in 2005. First of all, it is noteworthy that Thomas Kvasthoff, who has rarely appeared in opera, sings "Tannhauser" and "The Russian Emperor and the Shipbuilder". Other singers include Vivica Junod, who boasts superb technique, Saimir Pilgue, who has a sweet, beautiful voice, Carlos Alvarez, who exudes macho charm, and the veteran Neil Shicoff. It is also a pleasure to see Edda Moser, a famous soprano of the past, in fine form in "The Knight of the Roses. A portion of the proceeds from this DVD will be donated to the German AIDS Foundation. Recorded live at the Opera Cologne, Germany in 2005.
